The canopy made with watered silk and the pongé lining were completely damaged on this piece. The new canopy was recreated using VERASETA silk, lining in a new silk pongé, the fringes were cleaned then re-apposed on the top and the hedge. The lost ivory ring was mounted to obtain a complete restoration.

A rare example of 1850 kid parasol.
This is an example of a re-canopying work using the fabric of a 3 flounces 1850 dress to match the style. A 19th century silk pongé was used to create the interior lining.

Parasol 1910 recovering
Example of recovering the canopy of a 1910 parasol. The silk canopy was totally damaged but the silk covering the ribs was still in good condition. The canopy was completely recreated using VERASETA blue silk.
